Description:

You will create a journal stuffed with ephemera from your daily life. Each day you write (journal should have at least 30 entries) you will also stuff in something . . . a photo, movie ticket, receipt, post card, tea bag, stickers, pens, key chains or other small gifts for your partner. Your journal should be the size of a composition notebook or larger. It can be bound or spiral. If you create it by hand make sure it looks nice- not just some paper stapled together. You should have . . .

  1. A cover page that introduces you to your partner.

  2. 30 entries or more, each with at least a paragraph written neatly by hand or typed.

  3. One or more items glued, stapled or taped in for each entry. Hand drawn pictures in the journal are encouraged but do not count as part of the stuffing unless they are drawn on a post card or other stuck in item.

  4. 10 entries or more from each month; June, July and August.

  5. Pages should be colorful and have great care and effort. Don't wait till the last minute and scribble a bunch of stuff and stick some stuff in and send it. Make what you would want to receive.

  6. Items stuck in should cost $5 or more.

I love the idea of this swap and I am getting up the nerve to commit to this project : )

I would like to make my own journal, I was thinking of a mixed media cover front and back with collage work through out. The easiest way to bind this neatly would be 4-6 hole punched with binder style book rings, would that be OK ?

I am very excited to be part of this swap. This is exactly what I love to do....making an entire journal for one person over a longer period of time. I will not be doing any other swaps over the summer, except this one and look forward to making it very special. I am fairly new to journals, but the ones I have done, I have enjoyed every minute of the project. Thank you for hosting this swap:-)

I finished my journal and will send it out tomorrow. So excited to see what my swap partner will send:-) I am going out of the country this week and won't return until Sept. 16, so will not be rating when I receive mine until I return.
