Texture is so important in artwork! It makes the difference between a "flat" design and something that seems to pop off the page. For this swap, using a lightweight, flexible backing (such as firm cardstock or an old manila file folder), choose a background with lots of visual texture. You can use corrugated cardboard or paper, brush strokes, lace or other fabric, or paper with a visual texture, even if it isn't actually textured. The choice of a focal image is up to each swapper...you can use people, birds, butterflies...whatever "speaks" to you! Do your best work, and have a wonderful time making something fantastic for your swap partner!
