For this swap you will create one mix cd for two partners. The theme of the cd is to pick out songs that are about other people - they should have a person's name specifically mentioned in the song's lyrics and/or title. A minimum of 15 songs, but try to fit as many as you can onto one cd (I usually average about 20 songs a cd). Please be sure to include a playlist with your cd and if you want to go for the extra mile, create a cd label and name your disc as well.

This swap allows for international partners. Please do not have more than one no-send or at least a provided excuse if you do - no one wants to get burned on a swap! Please remember to also rate your partners when you get you cds! Thank you.

Excellent! I'm glad someone else is into the idea besides me! I also personally know of at least five songs alone that have my name in it... but I have a pretty common name. :)

this is a really stupid question, but, you do mean just a first name, right? I have lots with first names but i'd struggle to fill a cd with songs about specific, fully named people! :)

The only song that has my name in it is "Jesse's Girl" and that is about... a guy... named Jesse.

Also the Lou Bega song Mambo No. 5... he says Jessica, but that's my crappy nobody-but-my-mom-calls-me-that name... hahaha... plus in it, he says "A little bit of Jessica all night long" so obviously I am a whore...

hey alice-palace, yes, i meant first names only. i don't think i know any songs with full names!

btw, my name is mary. so there are tons of songs with my name in it. i've had so many people sing to me when they first meet me... :)

I made my play list today and it's ready to be burned :) I had way more name songs than I thought I had. Now I can't wait to see what I get from my partners.

hmmm. re: superman - i think it acceptable since he went by it. you are free to interpret the theme as you wish. :)

LOL My name is Sheri, and besides "Sherry Frasier" by Marcy Playground, the only other song I can think of with my name is "Sherry Baby" (and they never spell it the same as me, either--it's always the way the wine is spelled) by Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons. Every time I hear that song, I cringe! His voice is soooo high and annoying! LOL I just want to scream, NO I can't come out tonight! haha Great idea for a mix. I actually made two discs, because I have a total of 43 songs with names in them, not including the ones I couldn't fit.

BTW, is two discs one too many? Should I narrow it down a bit? All 43 songs are really good, but there are some I could eliminate without missing them too much, if I have to... It'll be tough choosing only 20 to keep, tho. There are just so many good songs with names in them. I've noticed that some of the most creative songs have a name in them... Except for "Sherry Baby", that is. LOL

I've always liked the Rolling Stones song with my name in it - "Angie." Supposed to be about Angela Bowie, I think. I just went through my library and I have over 50 songs with someone's name! Way more than I thought! I can't wait to see what's on the CDs I get. So far no one's mentioned any of the songs I have picked out, but I'm sure there'll be some overlap.

I do not know how to burn CDs but this sounds like a mix I would love..so would any US person like to just burn an extra and set up a private swap with me???
