Art doesn’t come from nowhere. We are all influenced by those who have gone before us. Let’s swap POSTCARDS paying homage to some of our cultural heroes.

Make them yourself if your mentors aren’t readily available on store bought postcards.

Are we looking for portraits of our art heroes and heroines, or examples of their work, or something inspired by them, or all of the above?

Good question spinjenny. I envision this as actual portraits, but they could include elements of the artists work.

I designed my third card and posted it as an example above. I also did Nico and jazz great Sun Ra. I thought I would be doing painters and graphic artists, but so far it is all musicians.

I'm going to offer everyone who is in this swap a chance to pick out one of the cards I designed for it. Stay tuned.

Here are the results of what folks selected from my designs: 5 people picked Leonard Cohen, 4 picked Sun Ra, 2 picked out Spalding Gray and one brave soul went for Tiny Tim. I guess I won't be trying any punk rock swaps. LOL

I've got mine, but will be gone all day tomorrow. If I can manage to find a post office where I will be, I will mail them, but most likely it will be the next day (Tuesday).
